Honoring Konrad Kwiet

A celebration of the career and contribution of Professor Kwiet  has been held at the Sydney Jewish Museum where the capacity crowd gave the academic  a standing ovation after his address on the topic: Once upon a Time in Australia: Aborigines, Racists and Jews.

Professor Konrad Kwiet

Konrad Kwiet is the Resident Historian of the Sydney Jewish Museum and  Pratt Professor in Jewish and Holocaust Studies at the University of Sydney. Professor Kwiet has been the leading Australian scholar of the Holocaust for nearly forty year and also served as Chief Historian for the Australian war crimes commission.

Professor Suzanne Rutland and Dr Avril Alba also spoke about Konrad, his contribution and that besides being a friend and work colleague, he was warmly regarded as a mentor. Professor Gus Lehrer spoke about Konrad’s invaluable role at the Museum and presented him with a special certificate of appreciation. The Museum CEO, Norman Seligman, said it has been a privilege to have Konrad  both as a friend and an integral part of the Museum team.

A wonderful evening to honour a remarkable man.
