Historic Greek Link to Jewish Museum
The Greek Consul-General visited the Jewish Museum in Sydney last week…and saw a stone commemorating one of his predecessors, Samuel Cohen who inaugurated the building almost 100 years ago.
Vassilios Tolios told museum staff that during a previous posting to Warsaw he had visited Auschwitz and that it had been “the most chilling experience” of his life. He made mention that the Jewish community of his home town of Serres had been deported in 1943.
