Henry Greener discusses the Yes Vote with Jill Gallagher
Jill Gallagher AO leads the Australian community for a YES Vote in the highly controversial Indigenous Voice to Parliament Referendum.
As CEO of the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organization (VACCHO), Jill has been at the forefront of all matters relating to Closing The Gap, Treaty Advancement, and First Nations Issues.
I am voting YES but a later treaty could be tricky as there is no national organisation with Australian Aborigines. ATSIC was a failure and abandoned. The Aborigine’s are mostly grouped into family, clan or tribal groups but not a full national body like in most countries. Aborigines are full Australian citizens and vote and stand for election like other Australian. There are Aborigines or part aborigines (mixed race) in various parliament too (eg) Jacinta Price (LNP), Minister Linda Burney (ALP) and Lydia Thorpe (ex Greens independent).
