Help on the Way to Christchurch
Israel will send sanitation and water purification equipment to the stricken city of Christchurch in New Zealand.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded to a request from help from John Key, his New Zealand counterpart. Also being shipped to the South Island city will be temporary shelters.
Israeli Ambassador Shemi Tzur is in Christchurch this morning with his Consul Teddy Poplinger. They are still to receive confirmation of the shipments.
In the meantime, Rabbi Shmuley Friedman and Rabbi Mendel Goldstein continue to assist the diplomats in the search for missing Israelis. Rabbi Friedman told J-Wire: “We are leaving no stone unturned. We have had some success in locating some of the missing travellers and the number has reduced over the weekend…but there are still about six unaccounted for.”
