Happy 110th, Mary!
Mary Rothstein celebrated her 110th birthday in Melbourne yesterday…the second oldest Jew in the world.
Her daughter, Ruth Cavallaro, visits her twice each day at Melbourne’s Jewish Care’s aged facility and was at the birthday celebrations with other members of Mary’s family including six great-grandchildren.
Cavallaro told media: “Her secret? She has never smoked or drunk alcohol…and she’s very kosher.”
Mary Rothstein spent has spent half her life in London where she worked as a milliner occasionally providing headwear for the royal family. She was born in Russia. She has been living in the Jewish Care home for 17 years.
Evelyn Kozak is the world’s oldest Jew. She was born on August 14, 1899 and lives in New York.
