Sydney’s Hakoah Club has terminated its contract with its current builder.

Planned pool area

President Steven Lowy told J-Wire the club believes the builder was in breach of contract.

He said: “A reasonable amount of work has been done to date and I believe the Club will open its doors to members and their guests in 2025.

In a statement sent to members, Hakoah said: “The construction industry is going through a particularly difficult time with many builders and subcontractors struggling and going into financial administration. However, the Club has engaged a team of specialist construction, cost planning and programming experts and believe we are in a sound position to restart the project as soon as possible.

None of us should lose sight of our purpose – to build a world-class community, sports and cultural centre which will once again become the hub of the Sydney Jewish Community. Nothing could be more important at this most difficult moment in history for Israel and the Jewish people.”

Very sad they shut hakoah bondi it robbed a generation of the magic and a place the community could come together. If i was a billionaire i would have made it work and never have sold it. I miss the memories the nostalgia. A past that will never come back a community i no longer relate to. I bet if it was these people’s businesses hakoah would have re-opened 20 years ago or never even shut down ! A great loss shame.
