More than 400 senior school students and member of Jewish youth groups worked in shifts for the twentieth year in succession at the headquarters of Harry Triguboff’s Meriton company to calll the community to add their effort to a project which will see 120,000 trees circle the Negev city of Be’ersheva.
_DSC5427 _DSC5419 _DSC5397 _DSC5318 _DSC5308Sydney youth from Moriah College, Masada College, Emanuel School, Kesser Torah College, Hineni, Betar, B’nei Akivah, Habonim, Netzer and AUJS followed a group of communal leaders who were first to man the 50 lines especially installed by Meriton for the telethon.

Meriton executive Peter Spira who has co-ordinated the event for the last twenty years was ever present joining the NSW JNF team produce a successful day. Executive Director Ygal Shapir told J-Wire: We still have some mopping up to do but it looks like we will have contributed around 20,00o trees to the project.”

The day finished off with a live feed from the area around Be’ersheva where Sydney members of the Shnat group had assembled to plant trees causing mild hysteria as they made contact with their friends doing their bit on JNF’s Green Sunday in Sydney….check J-Wire’s pix
