The Yes We Can Food Drive is an annual food drive campaign which consists of a  multi-faith partnership between Jewish House, the Exodus Foundation and the  Al-Ghazzali Centre.

“I am delighted to announce that $3,000 from the NSW Government’s Community  Grants Program will go towards this worthy project run by Jewish House, based in my electorate of Vaucluse,” Ms Upton said.

Ms Upton said the motto of the project, ‘One can at a time can change the world’, encourages people to donate non-perishable goods to assist those in need.

“The food drive will take place in 25 Coles Stores around NSW, with collection beginning on 5 September for two weeks.” Ms Upton said.

Jewish House CEO, Rabbi Mendel Kastel, said the project is a great example of different religious backgrounds, charity and corporate groups working together with the community to provide support for those in need. “The beauty of this project is that we find families showing their children how to give
by donating cans, we have students volunteering to help promote the project, and we have corporate groups encouraging each other to give,” Rabbi Kastel said.

“We at Jewish House enjoy a number of partnerships, and having the support from our local member Gabrielle Upton and the State Government in a real grass roots project is fantastic.”
