The Australian Ambassador-Designate to Israel has had her first meeting in her new role with a Jewish organisation.

Manny Waks, the founder and Director of Canberra’s Capital Jewish Forum, has had an informal meeting with Andrea Faulkner, the Ambassador-Designate to Israel who is expected to take up her first ambassadorial posting within the next few weeks.

Waks and Ambassador-Designate Faulkner had an informal meeting over a cup of coffee. Waks told J-Wire: ”

I was honoured to meet Ms Faulkner and greatly appreciated her taking the time to meet me in this transitional period.

The main topics we discussed include Israel, the Australian Jewish community and CJF.

I am delighted that Ms Faulkner has agreed to join our long list of distinguished guests in presenting to the CJF sometime in the future.”

The Capital Jewish Forum arranges newsmaker meetings for its members monthly.

Ambassador-Desginate Faulkner is no stranger to Tel Aviv. She served as a diplomat in the Australian Embassy between 1992 and 1994,

Colin Rubenstein, executive director of the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council told J-Wire that the new ambassador is known to AIJAC. He said: “We wish her well and offer her heartiest congratulations in her new post…and we look forward to meeting with her in Canberra tomorrow.”
