Generations of women look up
Now in its 21st year, the Annual Generations of Women Brunch saw 260 women attend the The International Brighton and hear guest speaker Fiona Grinwald encourage them all to “look up”.
Fiona Grinwald is the founder of 2lookup, seeking to create positive shared connection by helping people see the compelling beauty in the ordinary things that are all around us.
In 2014, the sudden death of her 39-year-old husband left Grinwald as a single mum of two young children. It was from this personal tragedy that Grinwald decided not to look down and let what had happened swallow her up, but instead to live a life with no regrets and allow herself to lookup.
“There will always be bad days. For me the balance between acknowledging bad days and appreciating the good, is what’s important. And particularly acknowledging the good parts of hard days,” Grinwald said.
Jewish Care Board member Simone Szalmuk-Singer addressed the audience about the critical need for more housing and related services for the Jewish community of Victoria and thanked the supporters in the room for “setting the example that leads others to join you. You are inspiring your own families and inspiring the community.”
“Jewish Care provides a long-term sustainable solution which is effectively empowering people to take back their future and own it,” Szalmuk-Singer said.
Donations raised during the event will go towards Jewish Care’s Housing Support Program, which supports individuals and families at risk of homelessness.
