Geelong leader speaks at bushfire memorial
Phillipa Challis told an interfaith congregation attending a memorial service yesterday at St Mary’s Basilica in Geelong that Pesach had much in common with the regeneration of the land and lives lost in the Victorian bushfires. The Geelong Jewish community leader told the story of Pesach comparing the hardship and regeneration of Jewish lives with the recovery lying ahead of those living in the area where raging bushfires in February had accounted for 173 lives.
Challis quoted from the Torah, praying for the victims of the fires.
