A day after winning the C1 event at the Open, the four-time Olympic medallist was beaten by Martina Wegman from the Netherlands in the K1 final.

Fox’s younger sister Noemie finished third to take bronze at the Penrith Whitewater course in Sydney on Saturday.

Fellow Australian Lucien Delfour, a dual Olympian, won the men’s kayak final.

“I raced pretty well in the final and I had two touches which meant I just got beaten by Martina. It happens,” Jessica Fox said.

“She raced really well, and it’s awesome to be on the podium with Noemie. I’m super-proud of her.”

The senior Fox sister, the reigning Olympic C1 champion, took bronze in the K1 at the Tokyo Games and Wegman was seventh.
