Four IDF soldiers injured in terror attack
IDF soldiers on patrol near the Arab village of Nebi Salah in the Benyamin area were injured on Sunday night by an explosive charge that went off.
Three of the soldiers were treated for light injuries by IDF medics, and one wounded with an injury to his hand from shrapnel was evacuated by an MDA team to Tel Hashomer hospital.
The attack came hours after a bus carrying IDF soldiers to their base in the Jordan Valley came under attack by three terrorists who shot at the bus and attempted to set it on fire.
Four soldiers were evacuated to the hospital in Afula in light condition, and two of them were released after being treated in the emergency room.
One soldier was hospitalised in the orthopedic department, and one soldier was transferred to Rambam Sunday evening in moderate condition after an imaging test revealed that he is suffering from a head injury.
The bus driver, a man in his 60s, was evacuated by helicopter to Rambam hospital in serious condition. The director of the intensive care department at the Rambam Hospital in Haifa, Dr Yaron Bar Lavie, updated Monday morning that the condition of the bus driver has stabilised and is now good.
“We hope that during the day, we will be able to wake him up. One of the wounded soldiers underwent surgery to remove shrapnel – his condition is excellent, he is expected to be released from intensive care. Another soldier arrived from the Emek Hospital in Afula and is also in good condition,” he said.
Another soldier in light condition is hospitalised in Rambam hospital for observation in one of the surgical wards.
Two of the terrorists were burned by their own weapons shortly after the attack. They were captured and subsequently transferred to Sheba hospital in Tel Aviv to the best burns ward in the country.
The Israeli forces are still searching for the third terrorist. The three are a father, a son, and a cousin.
