Not commonly understood even by members of the community who keep Kosher, buying filleted fish is a no-go area  Coles are trialling for three days the sale of Kosher fish in their Elsternwick store in Melbourne where a meshgiach supervises any filleting which needs to be done.

A rabbi explained to J-Wire that unless a fish is whole, there is no way of telling that the filleting knives and scraps of fish a fish may come in contact with would render it treif.

So far the trial has proved very successful and the new Kosher fish section seems to be passing its trials with flying colours. Flying fish? They pass the test.
