Federal Minister for Education spends a morning at Yeshivah – Beth Rivkah
Yeshivah-Beth Rivkah Colleges hosted the Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan MP.
Joining the minister were Senator James Paterson, Kate Ashmor (Liberal candidate for Macnamara), State Member for Caulfield David Southwick MP, and Glen Eira Mayor Jamie Hyams, as well as Principals, Presidents and lay leaders from schools in the Macnamara Electorate.
The Minister briefed the group on the Liberal Party’s commitment to support ‘parent choice’ in schooling with updated funding arrangements. This was followed by a robust and animated question and answer session. The Minister and dignitaries toured the school and were visibly impressed by our strong Jewish values and progressive educational offerings. Student representatives from the Beth Rivkah VCE Political Studies class challenged the Minister with issues at the forefront of their minds that related to the Australian Educational landscape. They made a real ‘Kiddush Hashem’ – favourable impression of our school student body.
The principal of Yeshivah-Beth Rivkah Colleges, Rabbi Yehoshua Smukler commented: “The Minister’s visit was a fabulous opportunity to interact with all echelons of Government in relation to maintaining and enhancing educational opportunities for our children and our communities.”
