A fake email requesting payment of $310 purporting to be from the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies (NSWJBD) was circulated this week.

Once NSWJBD was made aware of the fake email, Vic Alhadeff, CEO sent an email to its database in which the Board offered the help of its IT department and IT support provider.

If recipients had clicked on the link it is possible that malware would be downloaded to their computer.

It is not known how many computers were affected but 1163 subscribers have told the Board they had opened the email.

“We have offered expert IT support to them all” said Alhadeff.

There is a bit of this fakery on the internet and via phone called too. Best to ignore them all and hang up the phone without giving them your details and other information.
