“We warmly congratulate General David Hurley on being sworn in as Australia’s 27th Governor General”, said ECAJ President, Anton Block.

“He has been a long-standing friend of the Australian Jewish community. In his former role as Governor of New South Wales, he was the patron of the NSW Association of Jewish Service and Ex-Service Men and Women (NAJEX). He has attended numerous Jewish communal events over the years.

General Hurley’s career has been characterised by strong leadership in support of compassionate causes, as was evidenced by his statement on taking the oath of office that he will support people who help the nation’s most vulnerable citizens.

We wish General Hurley and his wife Linda all the very best in their new role”.
