ECAJ President heads for Jerusalem

Robert Goot, president of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, will attend the second Annual Israeli Presidential Conference under the auspices of President Shimon Peres – Facing Tomorrow 2009, in Jerusalem on later this month.

Facing Tomorrow the annual global conference initiated in 2008 by President Peres will focus on our mutual tomorrow – investigating the trends that are shaping the future and exploring actions that could and should be undertaken towards the betterment of tomorrow for Israel, the Jewish people and the world at large.

The 2009 Conference will assess the threats and opportunities and consider policies and decisions that should be implemented to address the grave challenges to national security, community life and the individual.

Mr Goot said “The invitation extended by President Peres is a great tribute to the Australian Jewish community and the very high esteem in which it is held internationally and in particular in Israel.  I am delighted to be participating in the conference with an array of extraordinary individuals who will be participating from all walks of life, heads of states, Ministers and public officials from around the World”.

Before attending the President’s Conference Mr Goot will his attend a meeting of the Executive Committee of the World Jewish Congress and a strategic planning meeting convened by the WJC.

The conference will run from October 20 for three days.
