J-Wire has double passes for Denial the riveting drama about the real-life showdown between historian Deborah Lipstadt (Rachel Weisz) and notorious English Holocaust denier David Irving (Timothy Spall).

The film also stars Tom Wilkinson.

Passionate and articulate, American Professor Deborah Lipstadt publishes a book in 1993 called “Denying the Holocaust”, in which she refers to Irving as a Holocaust denier. Soon after, he sues her for defamation. He does so under English law, where the burden of proof is on the accused. The whole world may know that the Holocaust happened, but now, Deborah needs to prove it. She is matched with a brilliant legal team who ask her to buy into a unique and daring strategy – remain silent. Neither Deborah nor a single Holocaust survivor will take the stand during their defence, hard evidence alone will support their position, while hopefully, emotional bias will become the undoing of their opponent.

Featuring a powerhouse performance from Rachel Weisz, Denial is the inspirational story of one woman’s fight for historical truth, and a timely reminder that the truth itself can withstand even the most aggressive and persistent falsification.
