Dave Sharma – Reflections on my time as Australia’s Ambassador to Israel
Dave Sharma will be speaking next month at Sydney’s Emanuel Synagogue to share his reflections on his time as Australia’s Ambassador to Israel.
On Monday December 10 from 10am, Dave Sharma will be speaking at Emanuel Synagogue, Woollahra to share his reflections on his time as Australia’s Ambassador to Israel.
Dave served as Australia’s Ambassador to Israel from 2013 to 2017. This period coincided with some of the busiest and most productive years for the Australia-Israel relationship, with trade, investment and innovation ties strengthened significantly. Dave’s leadership kept the Embassy secure and operational during several periods of significant security unrest and tension, including the 2014 Israel-Gaza conflict.
Dave also served overseas in senior roles at Australian diplomatic missions in Washington DC and Papua New Guinea. He undertook peacekeeping duties with the Peace Monitoring Group in Bougainville.
In Canberra, Dave’s roles included advising the Prime Minister on Australia’s international relations, an adviser to the then Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, managing Australia’s diplomatic presence in Africa, and director of the Indonesia desk.
Dave studied law, science and international relations. He is a graduate of the University of Cambridge. Dave is currently Director and Principal at Kelly+Partners – Government, Incentives & Innovation practice.
This talk is part of the series Conversations About Israel. Every Monday, Rabbi Jeffrey Kamins or guest speakers examine the complex issues facing contemporary Israel.

Didn’t he suggest, during the Wentworth by-election, the possible move of Australia’s embassy from Tel Aviv? That were well!!
