Daryl Robinson gets a mention in Parliament
NSW State Member for Heffron Ron Hoenig has paid tribute to Daryl Robinson on his impending retirement as President of the Maroubra Synagogue Board of Management.
In a speech to the NSW Parliament, Mr Hoenig commended Mr Robinson’s outstanding contribution to the Synagogue community since he emigrated to Australia from South Africa.
Mr Hoenig presented a Parliamentary certificate of the speech to Mr Robinson at Maroubra’s Shabbat service on 27 October.
Mr Robinson joined the Maroubra Synagogue in 2006, and in 2008 he joined the synagogue’s board of management, serving as vice-president from 2009 and elected president in 2013. He is required to post at the end of his five-year term at the end of November.
In his term as President, Mr Robinson has overseen an ambitious building and renovation program, and the appointment and management of the synagogue rabbis.
Ron Hoenig told the NSW Parliament: “Daryl has made himself available day and night to listen to the feedback and complaints from the local Jewish community. Anyone who is a member of the Jewish community knows there is never a shortage of complaints.
Having served on the board of management with Daryl, I have seen firsthand his contribution and the achievements that have been made as a result of his strong leadership. I ask the House to pay tribute to Daryl’s outstanding service to the Jewish community.”
