Danby announces voting dates
Federal Labor MP Michael Danby has announced dates for voting in his electorate for the upcoming General Election to be held on Yom Kippur.
He told J-Wire: “When the election date was announced, I immediately promised that I would secure extra opportunities for people in Melbourne Ports to vote before election day, when many Jewish residents will be unable to vote; I’m pleased to announce that I have fulfilled that promise.
The first will be the Caulfield Early Voting Centre, in the Presbyterian church hall on the corner of Neerim and Bambra Roads, Caulfield. This centre will be open from 27 August to 13 September, including in the evenings until 7pm from 9 to 12 September.
The second will a special voting day at the Caulfield Pavilion, in Caulfield Park off Balaclava Rd, on Sunday 8 September from 10am to 4pm. I will be there all day to meet voters and discuss any issues they may have.
In addition, the existing East St Kilda Early Voting Centre will operate at the Betty Day Centre, Argyle St, East St Kilda, from 27 August to 13 September. It will also be possible to vote early at the AEC office at Casselden Place in the city.
