Council of Christians and Jews in Jerusalem
The Australian Council of Christians and Jews have heard of life in Israel from the former rabbi of Sydney’s Great Synagogue.
Rabbi Raymond Apple now lives in Jerusalem and addressed 34 members of the Council who are currently on a visit to Israel.
Philip Bliss from Melbourne’s Temple Beth Israel Synagogue told J-Wire: “In our group we have 14 Jews and 20 Chritstians. We will spend six days in Jerusalem and Galilee and the four days in Jaffa exploring the religious and political interplay of the the three Abrahamic faiths.”
The tour was arranged by the Saltz Centre of the World Union of Progressive Judaism.
Our Australian group from the Australian Council of Christians and Jews is on a quest for reconciliation and peace. Jerusalem is wonderful place, and the land awaits peace; but a group that sees, learns and observes can help pour oil on troubled waters back home. Learning to understand the ‘other’ is a lifelong learning curve. Jews, Christians and Muslims – the Abrahamic religions, share mnay common ideals.
