The four-year appointment was overwhelmingly approved by the Caulfield North congregation and Rabbi Mirvis who is completing his first year  as Rosh Kollel and Rabbi of the young minyan Kehillat Ohr David will assume his new role on September 4.

31-yr-old Rabbi Mirvis’s father Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis currently serves as the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth and is based in London.

He will travel to Melbourne in August with his wife Valerie to attend his son’s induction.

Synagogue president Dr Danny Lamm said: “The outcome reflects the extraordinary support Rabbi Mirvis and his wife Althea have already received following the announcement of the proposed appointment.”

Rabbi Danny and Althea Mirvis have two children Rafi,4 and Liora 3.
