Australian Jewish army chaplain Rabbi Ralph Genende has hosted a Chanukah lighting ceremony in Sydney’s historic Victoria Barracks.

Before lighting the candles Rabbi Genende explained the history of Chanukah.

He called on members of the military and the members of the Jewish community to light the candles.

Rabbi Genende finished the meeting by emphasising the importance of eating oily food and letting all those present know that the doughnuts on show qualified.

it was the first official function for newly-elected president of NAJEX Charles Aronson.
