The motorcade

Organised by Chabad Youth NSW, more than 50 vehicles carrying menorahs on their roofs, formed a motorcade which wend its way from the Eastern Suburbs into the CBD.

Over 500 people joined in the celebrations with live music, food stalls and children’s events taking over the Macquarie St end of the city’s famous pedestrian throughfdare.

The event was addressed bt NSW Attorney-General John Hatzistergos and MLC David Clarke. ALso in attendance was the presidnet of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies Yair Miller and Isralie Deputy Chief of Mission Eli Yerushalami.

Rabbi Levy told J-Wire: “This is the fifth year I have run this event and we were very worried that the week’s dreadful weather was going to more than damplen the Chanukah spirit. However, all feared were allayed when the day cleared up and the rain stayed away. It was again a great thrill to share Chanukah with Sydney public.”
