Maccabi NSW with the help of the State Attorney General and local MP for Vaucluse, Gabrielle Upton, has received grants from the NSW State Government for the upcoming Maccabi Australia Junior Carnival.

The Carnival, which rotates between State Capitals is hosted by Sydney every 4 years. It brings together Jewish Youth aged 12-15 years from all over Australia and New Zealand. It remains the largest single event in Australia for Jewish kids in this age group.
The event combines sport activities during the day with social events at night.
This years Carnival Manager Justin Shelton and his committee have organised new sports and activities to excite participants: “ We will run a “Raw Challenge” which involves participants taking part in a boot camp style obstacle course that is a mix of fun and challenge. We also will give participants the option of trialling sports they normally may not play such as Australian Rules Football, Rock Climbing and Ultimate Frisbee”
“Social events include a Harbour Cruise, Shows, Dance and pool parties and the largest foam party you will ever go to” adds Justin. “Applications close at the end of November, so those wanting to participate need to register now!”
Gabrielle Upton has supported Maccabi over many years, whether it be through securing Government grants or simply attending events. “ Gabrielle is an amazing supporter of our community, and has been a good friend of Maccabi NSW” added Maccabi NSW President Danny Hochberg.” Through Gabrielle we received 2 grants: $12,000 from the Premiers Office and a further $6,000 from the Department of Sports and Recreation. These sources of funding are much appreciated and we thank Gabrielle and the NSW Government for their continued support of this event”.
Further funding was received from the Millie Phillips Education Fund, which supports Carnival through 50 x $250 vouchers to go to parents with children from non-Jewish day schools or from the North.
The carnival will be held in Sydney from 12th January to the 19th January 2016.
