” This year we selected the Caring Mums program as our charity of choice, said Grace owners Georgia Danos and Ilana Moses , ” As young mothers ourselves we recognise the importance of having someone to talk to and supporting women as they transition into motherhood . It’s a remarkable program and we are happy to help more new mums access it”

By buying the chic tote customers will be supporting Caring Mums in their efforts to emotionally support pregnant women and new mums. Whether you are a mother, grandmother, sister or a friend of a woman with a new baby, you have witnessed the journey that is Motherhood.

While the birth of a new baby may be seen as a treasured gift, the reality for a great number of women can be very different. Women entering into motherhood may feel isolated, overwhelmed or unsupported in their new role and many find it challenging.

The Caring Mums Program provides much-needed help for mothers in the cities of Glen Eira, Port Phillip, Bayside, Stonnington, Monash, Kingston and shortly Yarra. It is a free, non-denominational, one-on-one program of NCJWA(Vic). Trained volunteers provide confidential and ongoing support on a regular basis.

As one previous participant of the program wrote, “We don’t have any family in Australia. Back in my country I would be surrounded by many other mothers, sister, cousins, grandmother, neighbours and of course my own mother, but here I found myself in unfamiliar situation without that important support. I joined the program and I was matched with a fantastic volunteer mum, she is an immigrant herself so she fully understood the feelings and emotions that come with leaving your homeland and family behind. We truly bonded perfectly and she became a vital part of my motherhood journey. Her wise advice was a blessing and her own experiences enriched my life. Also it was a comfort for me to know that she was there for me, because sometimes even the simplest question or unresolved doubt can make your day a nightmare.”

We are grateful to have the support of Grace, every bit of funding helps and there’s a benefit for everyone, customers get a handy tote to enjoy over summer and Caring Mums gets a needed boost too”, said Annette Sweet, Programs and Events Manager.

The limited edition charity totes sell for $10 each and all the proceeds will go to Caring Mums

They are available from Grace, 595 Malvern Road Toorak, online at www.gracemelbourne.com or from NCJWA(Vic) 131-133 Hawthorn Rd, Caulfield.
