A memorial ceremony has been held outside the French Cultural Centre, the “Alliance Francaise”, in Australia’s Capital city Canberra  to pay tribute to those killed and injured in the recent terror attacks in Paris.

Rabbi Shmueli Feldman chairman of Chabad ACT officiated at the memorial organised by members of Canberra’s French community.

Rabbi Feldman spoke of the impact the tragedy had on communities around the world and the need for all of humanity to unite against terror and hate specifically by adding in light, love and good deeds.

Leo Bokhozba, a French student studying in Canberra, then tearfully read out all the names and occupations of the victims from the name cards placed at the entrance to the centre.

A minute’s silence was observed and Memorial candle lit by Rabbi Feldman and representatives of the French community following which Rabbi Feldman invoked the traditional Jewish memorial prayer.
