Organisations and a federal MP have added their voices to bring back the three abducted Israeli teenagers believed to being held captive by Palestinian terrorists.

Federal Labor MP Michael Danby says: ‘I totally condemn the kidnapping of 3 Israeli teenagers on 12 June 2014.

The three boys are Eyal Yifrah (19) from El’ad, Naftali Frenkel (16) from Nof Ayalon and Gil-Ad Shaer (16) of Talmon. The boys are students of the Mekor Chaim yeshiva at Kfar Etzion in the West Bank‘s Area C, and were taken while hitchhiking home near Gush Etzion.

I understand that Mr Abbas and the Palestinian Authority have pledged assistance in finding the boys. This is to be welcomed, although Hamas, Fatah’s new partner, has slammed all assistance in finding the boys, and referred to the kidnappers as ‘heroes’. As most believe Hamas is involved in the kidnapping, such a repugnant position is hardly surprising,

Also welcome is news that Egypt is co-operating with Israeli search efforts, while other nations and the UN Secretary-General have condemned the kidnapping.

Although Hamas has denied involvement, some months ago Hamas published an 18-page manual on abduction techniques. Entitled “Guide for the Kidnapper,” it provided an operational guide that outlined the use of pistols with silences, the use of backup cars, the choice of conducting the abductions on rainy days, a command of Hebrew, the renting of hideouts in areas to avoid arousing suspicions and suggestions to refrain from announcing the outcome of the kidnapping until the victims were secured in a safe house.

The inclusion of Hamas in the PA unity government is problematic for Australia and all western countries where it (Hamas) is classified as a terrorist organisation.”

Irving Wallach, President of the New Israel Fund Australia, said: “The thoughts and hopes of the New Israel Fund Australia Foundation are with the families of the three Israeli teenagers who have been abducted. May they be returned speedily and unharmed into the arms of their loved ones.

We call on those responsible for their abduction to free them immediately. Any attack on civilians is to be deplored.
We hope that the efforts of both the Israeli and Palestinian security services meet with success and bring them home safe and sound.
May those responsible be brought to justice. We express our deepest concern that this terrible episode ends without further violence and harm to civilians, be they Israeli or Palestinian.”
