Calling emerging leaders and philanthropists
United Israel Appeal (UIA) Victoria and Australian Jewish Funders (AJF) invite emerging leaders and philanthropists aged 25-40 to join the UIA Philanthropy Fellowship – an in-depth, exclusive learning experience on how to make a philanthropic impact.
Over five weeks, participants will explore trends in philanthropy, collective giving and community building to inspire emerging leaders. It will empower skilled leaders and provide tools and strategies to become leaders within the community.
A 2014 North American study found that in the next 5-10 years, 75-90% of senior Jewish community leaders will retire or leave their positions. This trend is likely to occur in our local community, so we are preparing to welcome a thoughtful, inspiring and well-informed new generation of community leaders.
The program will offer participants the opportunity to explore how they can use their influence and actions to become agents of change. They will develop skills to advance their philanthropic aspirations and gain a deeper understanding about due diligence, strategic giving and making an impact.
Some of the program’s attributes include networking opportunities and engagement with like-minded peers, access to an unparalleled network of Australian and international Jewish leaders in philanthropy, social impact and community, gaining insight into the history of UIA in Melbourne and in the Australian Jewish community and its impact in Israel as well as access to new tools, approaches, learnings and collaborations to grow effective philanthropy. The fellowship concludes with a night of giving, where participants will decide on a UIA project to support.
Jeff Feldman, UIA Victoria CEO, said: “UIA takes pride in engaging with the entire community in exploring philanthropic choices and motivators. We recognise the need to educate and empower the next generation in trends in philanthropy, understanding their motivation and doing due diligence on the causes they wish to support. The philanthropy fellowship is designed to do just that.”
The program will launch on Wednesday, 2 November and run every Wednesday evening until 30 November.
