British royals to tour Holocaust sites in Poland and Germany
British royals Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will tour several sites memorialising victims of the Holocaust during a visit to Germany and Poland later this month.
Kensington Palace announced Monday that the royal couple’s five-day tour will begin in Warsaw July 17, and will include visits to the former site of the Stutthof concentration camp in Poland as well the Warsaw Rising Museum and Berlin’s Holocaust memorial.
“At each location Their Royal Highnesses will meet survivors of these periods, who will describe their personal experiences,” said a statement by Kensington Palace.
The duke and duchess will meet a group of five former prisoners of the Stutthof concentration camp July 18. Later on their trip, the British royals will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The royal couple’s children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will accompany their parents for some parts of the trip.
