St Kilda Shule has expanded Chazzan Brett Kaye’s role with his appointment as Music Director in addition to his chazzanut role.

Brett said that he is building on the solid foundations laid by Choirmaster Emeritus Adrian Bartak, following Adrian’s departure at the end of 2019. Adrian served as choirmaster of the congregation for 45 years during which time the Kaye/Bartak team together with the Shule choir built up an outstanding reputation for Shule music.

Shule President Harold Sternfeld grew up in St Kilda Shule. Harold recounts singing along with the choir at the morning services and spending his Saturday afternoons humming tunes sung by the choir earlier in the day. He said that the Shule had reached an important milestone with Adrian’s departure and the desire to take the music in the Shule to a new level. “We are thrilled that Brett Kaye has agreed to take on this new role in addition to his Chazzanut.”

In his new position as Music Director, Brett will add to the Shule repertoire and enlist more choristers while growing the Shule’s youth choir.
