Body of Israeli parachutist to be flown to Israel for burial

The body of Ariel Sicsic, the Israeli parachutist killed in Wollongong last week, will be flown to Israel for burial.The 33-year-old Israeli died in Wollongong Hospital last week after misjudging his landing at Towradji.

Police and the Australian Parachute Federation viewed tapes of the accident as Sicsic had filmed his own fatal jump. He had been employed by the skydiving company Skydive the Beach carrying out general duties for them.

A popular figure in Wollongong, Sicsic will be remembered at a memorial service to be held on Wednesday.

His family is expected to arrive in Australia at the end of this week and to return to Israel with his body.

It is the first skydiving fatality in the Wollongong area.
