Board asks for action on inflammatory video
The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies has written to Stepan Kerkyasharian, the president of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board seeking action to prosecute two Sydney men appearing in an inflammatory video stating “tomorrow you Jews will see what will become of you”.
The letter was written by Board president Jeremy Spinak:
We write to refer a matter to the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board with a request that the ADB prepare a brief for the Director of Public Prosecutions to prosecute Ismail al-Wahwah and Wassim Dureihi under S.20D of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act.
An inflammatory speech was delivered in Lakemba in Arabic on July 25, 2014 by Wahwah, the local spiritual head of Hizb ut-Tahrir – an organisation which advocates sharia and the destruction of the democratic way of life.
“Judgment day will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews … Tomorrow you Jews will see what will become of you — an eye for an eye, blood for blood, destruction for destruction.”
Reinforcing his message, the unseen crowd interjected with a chant of “Khaybar, Khaybar” — the full war-cry being “Khaybar Khaybar Ya Yahud jaysh Muhammad saya’ud ” (Khaybar, Khaybar O Jews, the army of Muhammad will return).
The following observations will be of assistance:
Ismail al-Wahwah gave the speech in public to a live audience.
The speech incited hatred towards, serious contempt for, and severe ridicule of, Jews on theground of them being Jewish. The speaker clearly refers to “the children of Israel” – ie Jews – as
a people.
It is clear that the speech threatened physical harm towards Jews. It also incited others to threaten physical harm towards Jews.
Each of these elements was done intentionally.
The intent extends beyond that of the main speaker to the host, Wassim Dureihi, a spokesperson for Hizb ut-Tahrir.
It is important to note that the diatribe was crude Jew-hatred reminiscent of last year’s anti-Israel rallies in Sydney that descended into blatant antisemitism, complete with Nazi swastikas and placards evoking racist images that had nothing to do with any Middle East conflict.
Wahwah’s speech was delivered in Arabic and a subtitled video was recently released. A link to the video will be forwarded separately. We attach a column published in The Australian last week, setting out the issues.
Why does the NSW Board of Deps. need some other entity to do IT’S JOB !!!
I reckon we badly need a lawyer to join the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and prosecute the criminal minds .
Any suggestion !!!
Otto,
Under the act the ADB is the body to refer it to the DPP–I can’t work out if your posts are supposed to be humourous or if you are just a dope. I suspect the latter.
Parker or Carron, I suspect interchangeable
I bother responding to stations well below mine just in case I did not make myself clear to the ones worthy of attention.
Suppose we consider the oligophrenic suggestion that a certain third party would structurally be delegated to start legal action on something THE JEWISH COMMUNITY appears to consider an offensive act, and by that we must admit that the offence instigates to even more serious illegalities against the JEWS, as per contents of the text, how idiotic is it that we, the offended party, cannot initiate legal action against the offending party. It follows that the ADB, if they would be the ONLY entity to commence such proceedings, would have to prove that THE JEWISH community is the most affected by the offensive statements of the respective offender. Does this bloke infer that we, the offended party, do not have the right to directly legally protect ourselves against someone we all agree that has committed an illegality which openly affects us ?!! To echo a certain word, what kind of dope would suggest that !!!
Incidentally we have had legal actions of the kind I am alluding to of our own in the recent past as the initiative of our own people, a certain Mr. Jones comes to mind.
How different is this to me being threatened by a neighbour and the same me, while back to my internet reading all kinds of arrogant/stupid stuff, expect the ADB to take action off their own bat. Same if someone would threaten , say, interchangeable Carron Parker, he would be the one initiating legal action because I, for one , even with my enlarged prostrate, if this bloke would on fire ….. forget it , I would expect the fire brigade to somehow self-alert themselves and I would happily and under some strain walk a mile to the nearest pissoar ( to be honest, a tree would do ).
Has this been passed on to the MEDIA???
This issue was covered in an article written by Vic Alhadeff that was published in The Australian March 2nd.
Can somebody please explain to me why it has taken 8 months to bring this issue to our attention?
One of the basic tenets of Democracy is the separation of church and state.
By church no particular religious institution is alluded to but only the
ability to govern by any organized religious group in its own interest, often with the application of force and generation of terror and fear.
.
What we are seeing and hearing during the poisonous address by Wahwah is the decisive power and influence of a 7th century religion exerted in order to
produce a social system alien to our democratic ideals in general and the destruction of the Jewish people and Israel in particular.
It is not just a “pseudo) religion – it is a fascist political movement intent on world domination.
Let’s just see what our laws (and the ability to use them) are made of now!
These people should face the full brunt of our legal system. That’s what the laws were made for.
