In Term 3 Year 6 students at selected schools participated in BJE’s Project Heritage Program sponsored by the Jewish Communal Appeal LotBen Fund in loving memory of Lotka and Bernard Ferster.
Each school was assigned a living historian who visited the school twice and talked to the children about their experiences during the Holocaust. For the rest of the term the students worked on projects such as drama, art, written work, etc. depicting the historian’s story. They then presented the historian with their finished project. The program concluded with a visit to the Sydney Jewish Museum. It was an extremely moving experience.
