Barnaby Joyce smear dispelled by community leader

Media reports suggest that the new Shadow Finance Minister partially follows the platform of the Citizens’ Electoral Council.

The CEC is one of the most extreme right-wing political groups in Australia and its leader, Chris Isherwood, has told “The Australian” that the Queensland senator is on the party’s mailing list.

He told the national paper  that “there’s nothing direct with Barnaby, but we all run in the same paddock”.

The parallel policies include the limiting of foreign investment and the belief that the climate change scenario is artificial.

The CEC are believed to be the Australian followers of the U.S. right-wing extremist Lyndon LaRouche. The organisation espouses protectionism and regulation of the banking system….it is also virulently antisemitic.

But a leading member of Australia’s Jewish community, who does not want to be named at this stage, said: “We have found Senator Joyce to be pro-Israel and pro our community. He attended Israel’s 60th anniversary and was most effusive and enthusiastic. He has visited Israel. Admittedly some of his ideas take some understanding but he is certainly considered a friend of the community and any notion that he is linked with Lyndon Larouche should be dispelled immediately. Possibly some of his constituents are.”
