A revitalised NSW Parliamentary Israeli Friendship Group will be launched in NSW State Parliament next week.

The new organisation will be chaired by State Liberal MP Gabrielle Upton MLC Walt Secord as Deputy Chair.

Next weeks launch of the Friendship Group will be attended by Israel’s ambassador to Australia Yuval Rotem with special guests Premier Barry O”Farrell and John Robertson, Leader of the Opposition.

J-Wire understands that the Friendship Group will have members from across the political spectrum.

Gabrielle Upton, Liberal member for Vaucluse, told J-Wire:  “The purpose of the group is to promote awareness amongst Members of Parliament on issues impacting upon the State of Israel and the Jewish Community in New South Wales.  It is also a bipartisan friendship group.

To mark the launch the Israeli Ambassador, Mr Yuval Rotem, will be our special guest and will deliver an address.  The Premier of NSW, the Hon Barry O’Farrell MP and Leader of the Opposition, Mr John Robertson will welcome the Ambassador.”
