I am welcoming the Fay’s going to Poland with expectations of a great success. She was told by her late father a lot of unpleasant things about the Polish antisemitism and when I have met her many years ago she felt ashamed to be born in this bloodied country, and always preferred to talk only about her lovely childhood in Israel. Being a great admirer of Fay’s beautiful singing I thought how pleasant it could be to sent her to sing in the country of her birth, and suggested to the consul general of Poland in Sydney of that time that he may facilitate some invitations for her to perform there. He had promised to assist, but at the end nothing come aut of that.
Years passed, and a lot have changed. Many Jewish festivals and other cultural events in Poland were arranged often in cooperation with the Israeli artists and authorities. Fay’s husband took her for a trip to Poland.and surprised attendance at the Cracow Jewish festival made her to yearn to participate in a similar happening. Now, with the help of the present consul general of Poland all arrangements are made. I wish Fay the great success and a lot of pleasant memories to bring and share with us. Looking forward to the film fo this tour to be made by Judy I thank Consul Gromann and everybody else who helped to prepare this.
