Award for Kevin
Gateways has named Kevin Bermeister the Guest of Honor at its Fifteenth Anniversary Banquet celebrating The Brownstone Experience, a collegiate and young adult leadership center that offers young men and women worldwide an opportunity to strengthen their Jewish identity and deepen their connection to Israel.
Professor Alan Dershowitz, a longstanding defender of Israel and the Jewish people as well as a tireless advocate for individual rights, is the keynote speaker at the event.
Bermeister, who was born in South Africa but whose family moved to Sydney, will be presented with The City of Jerusalem Award for his vision and commitment to build and develop Jerusalem. A real estate entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist, he is a major benefactor and supporter of numerous charitable organizations. He is also the founder of Jerusalem 5800 (www.jerusalem5800.com), a master plan for the ancient city through the year 2050.
“We are delighted to honor Kevin for his charitable giving on behalf of Jewish organizations worldwide, as well as his love of Israel as evidenced by his commitment to build and develop Jerusalem into a financially viable and global capital,” stated Rabbi Mordechai Suchard, Founder and President of The Gateways Organization. “We are also blessed with the opportunity to hear Professor Dershowitz speak at the event.”
Honorary Chairmen of the event are New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Ido Aharoni, Consul General of Israel in New York. Banquet Committee members include Matthew and Stacey Bronfman, Richard J and Christine Mack, David and Shiffy Lichtenstein, Alex and Olga Blavatnik, Jay Domb, and Henry and Esther Swieca.
Greg Gurevich, founding partner of Maritime Capital LLC, will be presented with the Young Leadership Award during the event to be held at The Manhattan Center in New York City There will also be a special performance by The M Generation Choir.
