The Sex Party candidate for the seat of Warringah, Alexander Gutman (aka Austen Tayshus), has asked his rival Tony Abbott, to explain coded references to the Spanish Inquisition in his comments about Work Choices being “dead, buried and cremated,” as part of the release of the Sex Party’s religion policy.

“Tony Abbott is knowingly peppering his speeches with subliminal ecclesiastical references dating back to the 13th century”, Gutman said. “When the Inquisition, which terrorised Europe for 600 years, was unable to burn a heretic at the stake because the heretic was already dead, he could be charged and tried posthumously. His remains would then be dug up, dragged through the streets and then burned.”

Gutman said that Mr Abbott’s apparent blunder on the order of events around the death of Work Choices was carefully calculated to send a coded message to those who would hear it, that he would ‘burn’ the opponents of Work Choices if he became Prime Minister.

There is a similar Inquisitional precedent for Abbott’s proposed ban on knives. In Bologna only knights and doctors were permitted to bear arms. Paris forbade all citizens from carrying pointed knives and swords. The ban did not apply to the Inquisition’s own constabulary.

“Tony Abbott is George Pell in a suit”, he said. “If Mr Abbott becomes Prime Minister, the Catholic Church will determine social policy in Australia for the next decade. Brian Harradine will rise from his Tasmanian three bedroom brick govie like Lazarus and David Feeny and David Clarke will sing from the same songbook to create a new era in sexual repression.

Gutman called on Mr Abbott to commit to a Royal Commission into child sex abuse in the church, as Family First and the Sex Party had recently agreed to on national television. “Child sex abuse is Mr Abbott’s Achilles’ heel”, he said. “Over 1,000 church clergy have been dealt with in Australian courts for child sex abuse. Mr Abbott makes much of his religion but I’ve never heard him try to explain to the public why this is happening and what he will do to stop it”.

Sandy Gutman said that Australia could not have a Prime Minister who was beholden to an organisation so riddled with paedophiles without some explanation or course of action.

He said a vote for Tony Abbott on the 21st was a vote for Mel Gibson.
