The ceremony takes place every 28 years at a time when the sun is calculated to be in the sky at exactly the same location as it was at the time of the Creation.

Starting in New Zealand, the ceremonies took place around the globe as the sun rose in the respective countries.

The ceremony spanned all branches of Judiasm.
