Auschwitz Liberation Commemoration
The Australian Association of Jewish Holocaust Survivors & Descendants together with Sydney Jewish Museum will hold its annual Liberation of Auschwitz Commemoration on Sunday 29 January at the Sydney Jewish Museum. This year is 67th Anniversary and we are holding the commemoration as well as the United Nations Holocaust Memorial Day. The keynote address will be given by Alan Rosenthal. His topic will be ‘Looking for the Real Eichmann’. His bio is as follows:
Alan Rosenthal. Born England. Educated law at Oxford University, and communications at Stanford Univ.
Made more than 40 films around the world. His films have won an Emmy and Peabody Journalism award. He produced and directed the last two award winning films in the Abba Eban famous PBS series ‘Civilisation and the Jews’.
Was Associate Producer television at the Eichmann Trial. Also helped set up the documentary department of Israel TV.
Is Professor Communications at the Hebrew University, and has written eight books Is currently in Australia shooting a docudrama on Ikey Solomon, the notorious English Jewish convict who was imprisoned in Van Diemen’s Land.
Other participants in the commemoration will be: Dr Christopher Woodthorpe, Director of United Nations Information Centre in Canberra; Litzi Lemberg, Chair of the Child Survivors’ Group (giving the Survivor Testimony); Rabbi Jeremy Lawrence.
