Current Chairperson Saul Burston told J-Wire: “It’s been a pleasure to represent AUJS and our community this year and I’m grateful for all the opportunities, growth and development I’ve been exposed to.
2018 has been a very innovative year for AUJS as both student leaders and staff alike have constantly explored ways to operate outside of convention as we, as a collective, seek to engage more and more Jewish tertiary students in new and exciting platforms.
I want to wish the best of luck to Joey, Ariel, and the entire 2019 Executive Committee. I hope they take full advantage of the opportunities this organisation gives to its student leaders and have full confidence they will continue to push the boundaries and explore exciting initiates that continue to engage Jewish tertiary students on and off university campuses across Australia and New Zealand.”
Josef Wilkinson told J-Wire: “Looking at how AUJS has developed over the past few years gives me great confidence going into 2019.
We have an amazing new Executive Committee, full of passionate and creative student leaders.
It is our hope that we can continue to grow and diversify AUJS so that all Jewish students, across Australia and New Zealand feel as though AUJS has something for them.
I think AUJS is the most important organisation in the Jewish community. We fill the transitory gap between school and adulthood. For many, we are their only Jewish experience. I am incredibly honoured that our team will have the opportunity to take AUJS on its next step.”
