Senator Zed Seselja sends a message for Rosh Hashanah to Australia’s Jewish community.

Senator Zed Seselja

It is my pleasure to extend this greeting to the Australian Jewish community as you celebrate

Rosh Hashanah and the beginning of a New Year.

Rosh Hashanah is an incredibly important time on the Jewish calendar. It brings cause to reflect and brings cause to look forward with hope. I had reason to reflect personally on Jewish history when I visited Israel in 2014.

Our nation is home to thousands of Jewish Australians who make significant contributions to our society. Jewish Australians are known to be some of the most generous people with their time and charity and it does not go unnoticed.

We would not be as strong a nation today if it were not for the contributions of Jewish Australians over decades.

Jewish Australians hold stout values and are justly proud of their religion and heritage. It is fantastic to see this occasion being well celebrated across the country. It is an important time to share with family and friends.

I wish you all the very best for Rosh Hashanah and hope you have a joyous and safe year ahead.

Senator the Hon Zed Seselja

Assistant Minister for Social Services and Multicultural Affairs
