As Erdan leaves UN post, he urges creation of world body with ‘noble values’
Gilad Erdan, the outgoing Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, has called out the United Nations for a new display that fails to include Israeli victims of the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks.

In an 85-second video posted Tuesday to his X account, Erdan identified himself as standing inside at the visitor’s entrance to the United Nations.
“Tomorrow the U.N. will mark the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to Victims of Terrorism with high-level discussions taking place,” he said in Hebrew with an English translation appearing at the bottom of the video. “There’s even an exhibition right here at the visitors’ entrance reminding everyone of the victims of terror attacks around the world.”
Erdan noted the appearances of such “familiar” historical events as the Sept. 11 terror attacks in 2001 and the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, in addition to terrorism in Indonesia and Kenya.
“But what’s missing?” he asked.
“There’s not a single mention of any attack carried out by Palestinians against Israelis,” Erdan said. “We are about to mark one year since the massacre and the largest terrorist attack against Jews and Israelis since the Holocaust. Yet the U.N. doesn’t think it needs to be displayed on its walls.”
He pointed to the display and said the world body did include a Palestinian terror victim. “Misleadingly, it says ‘Palestine’ here so that people might think she was harmed in Israel, but when you read the fine print, it turns out she was actually injured in an attack in New Zealand,” he said.
“This is why I always say that there is no place more corrupt and morally twisted than the U.N., and we must all unite to spread this message worldwide, demanding the closure and the dismantling of this organization, and the establishment of a new body that truly represents noble values,” the ambassador said as the video concluded.
