Arnold Roth the father of Australian-born Malki Roth, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Jerusalem in August 2001, has spoken in an online address to the Australian Jewish community.

The accomplice in the attack, Ahlam Tamimi, lives in Jordan and is the subject of a US extradition request, which Jordan has refused. Tamimi is wanted in the US on charges of using a weapon of mass destruction against US citizens. Malki Roth, 15, also held US citizenship, as did one other person killed in the attack. Four of the injured were US citizens.

Arnold Roth is increasing awareness of this issue to Australian and US audiences in an attempt to bring justice to the woman who orchestrated his daughter’s murder.

Tamimi, 20 at the time of the attack, was sentenced to 16 consecutive life sentences by Israel. She was later released, along with over 1000 other Palestinians convicted on terrorism charges, in exchange for the release of captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

After her release, Tamimi, a Jordanian national, returned to Jordan where she was feted as a hero. She has repeatedly celebrated her role in the attack that killed Malki and 14 others. Tamimi was given her own show on a satellite TV channel and is the subject of numerous fawning articles in the Arab media.

Mr Roth was speaking to the Zionist Federation of Australia, as part of its ‘Lockdown Learning’ series of online conversations. Mr Roth also spoke about the establishment of Keren Malki, an organisation named in honour of his daughter, that provides equipment and services to the families of severely disabled children. The conversation is available on YouTube, here.
