Antisemitism and bullying rife in Sydney schools
The antisemitism displayed in Sydney’s elite Knox Grammar as part of social media group established by students is spreading throughout the city with bullying of Jewish students in two Eastern Suburbs schools.
The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies reports that one of the schools is a private boys’ institution and public.
A parent of the private school has complained to the NSWJBD.
J-Wire understands that Nazi salutes are commonplace in this school, with the student being addressed as “Jew” and not by his name.
The parent reported that name-calling is a daily occurrence and is accompanied by inappropriate jokes.
The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies heard that whereas they have received only one complaint as yet, every Jewish student in the student’s year receives the same treatment.
The student is a descendant of Holocaust survivors and has to experience Nazi salutes frequently.
The complaint from the public school highlights Hitler photos being sent by students to fellow pupils, including Jewish students
They are accompanied by comments such as “dumb ass jew nigger” and “I hope your family gets gassed.”
NSW Jewish Board of Deputies CEO Darren Bark told J-Wire, “The problem of religious-based bullying is unfortunately not isolated. It spreads across all of our educational institutions, including public and private. A systemic problem requires a systemic solution. It is the responsibility of the entire NSW community to tackle this scourge.”
