Another student starts proceedings
Melbourne’s The Age newspaper has reported that a second former student has commenced proceedings against the ultra-orthodox Adass Yisroel School following this week’s judgement awarding over $1 million to a former student who allegedly suffered sexual abuse.
As reported on J-Wire, the Australian authorities are seeking to extradite former principal Malka Heifer from Israel to face 74 counts of child sexual abuse when employed as principal of the Melbourne girls’ school.
Melbourne’s Supreme Court Justice Jack Rush said at this week’s hearing that the actions taken by the Adass Israel School in helping principal Malka Leifer flee Australia in 2008 were “deplorable and disgraceful.” The allegations of her behaviour were raised shortly after she left Australia.
