Budo for Peace, founded by former Sydneysider Danny Hakim. has won the REGIONAL NGO OF THE YEAR 2018 @peaceandsportAwards, awarded based on this Israeli non-profit NGO’s outstanding contribution to peace in the world using the power of sport.

BFP Founder and Chairman; Sensei Keyvan Ghazi BFP-Greece ; Joël Bouzou , President and founder, Peace and Sport.

The award also recognises the successful February 2018 execution of the Budo for Peace 4THMartial Arts for Peace International Seminar – an annual event that serves as platform for representatives from the region’s diverse communities and countries – including Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Greece, the Palestinian Authority and Israel – to engage each other in the context of the organisation’s Martial Arts based Education & Empowerment platform.

Some 80 senior Martial Arts Sensei from all these countries and communities spent a week of training, discussion, and joint Peace-project-building – as well as serving as models for Social Harmony and Martial Arts training for about 800 kids from Arab/Muslim/Christian and Jewish youth.

Danny Hakim, Budo for Peace Founder & Chairman, said: “We are thrilled to receive this recognition and honour bestowed upon us, and committed to continuing our journey toward social harmony, empowerment and education of future generations – so as to help inspire the best leaders of our tomorrow!”

Hakim added: “Even just by making sure that people from diverse origins, religions and political backgrounds get to MEET each other, and interact in an environment that lends itself to equality and effective exchange of perspective – as is the case with our Budo for Peace platform – we believe we have achieved half the magic.”
